I like the above the propane tank too.

I might just go with a roof rack though so I can still get the rear hatch open

I am brand new in this and I also will like to include the bike rack I already own which carries 4 bicycles in my 28BHS model, it already has a spare tire and a grill bracket in the rear bumper, I am concern with the bumper weight limit. Attached is a picture of the bike rack I own. Any suggestion?

Any non-Starcraft approved modification that causes the failure of part of the trailer would not then be covered by the warranty. So if you weld on a hitch, and the frame cracks and it can be proved by Starcraft that the hitch was the cause, you are out of luck. This is pretty much the same for all products. The manufacture has to prove that your modification caused the failure.

Here is a picture of my bike rack. It holds 4 bikes. It is 2 Swagman RV racks mounted on a custom 2" square tube that installs into the receiver on the trailer. The tube has a through bolt, not just a pin on the receiver plus an anti-rattle u-bolt to hold the tube completely solid. This takes 100% of the bounce out of the hitch. The bounce and the lever action on the bumper is what causes all the failures. The receiver is welded to the bumper but there is a large plate welded to the bumper too. Also the receiver extends forward to a piece of steel cross-brace that is welded to the frame. This supports the forward part of the receiver. Mine was installed by a certified welder who built it to a 300 lb tongue weight capacity. With my 4 bikes I am about 175 lbs total for the rack and bikes.

I'm assuming it would only void the warranty on issues related to the frame?

My guess is yes about the warranty.

The hard part with the bolt on receive hitches is that they act like a large lever arm.

All of the weight is at the top pushing down on the bolt on receiver. Since the bumper is only welded on one side, that pressure from the lever creates a twisting load.

Add onto the fact that the back of the camper is subjected to a large amount of bounce... Potential bad situation.

You would be best off going to a welder and having them weld the receiver to the frame or get a rack that mounts to the a frame.

Bike rack

I pull our 239TBS with a SUV, therefore need to haul the bikes in the camper or on a rack behind it. I have a 5 bike rack, but am concerned with a bolt on type receiver attached to the bumper. What are my options? If I have a beam welded b/t the frame and have a receiver added with this void warranty?
