First Destination of the Spring
Re: First Destination of the Spring
21 miles. that is where we go in the winter as very little to no snow accumulation there. can get a little breezy there at times though. there were probably 10 other campers there so nice to see everyone out. lot of fisherman in drift boats on the river.

Friday was a really nice warm day with no wind so we went out to the Madison river for an overnighter. cooked some smoked hot Italian asiago-parmesan sausages for dinner. they come from the meat shop in ennis. anyone travelling though ennis I would highly recommend sampling some of their homemade sausages. had a great evening around the campfire and the stars at night were spectacular. wind picked up on Saturday so headed home. the insulation package on that ar-one is spectacular, furnace did not kick on once.

hang in there. we are ready, just waiting for a good opportunity and a break in the weather. I have a new 40volt brushless chainsaw to try out and cant wait. we will be negative temps tonight and is snowing right now. last weekend had to put battery charger on truck as have not driven it in quite awhile. this will probably be the last of the negative temps but will snow through memorial day.

Re: First Destination of the Spring
Just checked on our trailer in storage yesterday.
Luckily, we are able to keep it in my dad's pull barn and out of the elements.
We just received 3 foster children though, so I am really hoping that we can get out there. Right now, I don't see that as a possibility with a few of the issues we are addressing.
I agree, when the weather breaks, I want to see all of the photos from everybody!

Well my start the to the season may be delayed, which sucks. I have to travel to Hong Kong on business for a few weeks in late April or early May. Please post some nice pictures when you all get started. Only thing that makes me think it might not be so bad, is I was up at the farm yesterday to check on my trailer. Had to did through 5 foot of snow around man door to get in. Farmer who stores it says been to cold to go out and move the snow for doorway.

Re: First Destination of the Spring
We usually are allowed to get our camper out of storage about the middle of April, depending on the snow. Last year it wasn't until the first week in May. Our first trip is to the dealer to finish our list of warranty work started on last fall. Hopefully that will be all done so we can start camping early in May. We usually head south of our location in northern WI to find some warmth, usually southern WI or MN, if you can call that warmer. We do have reservations for Memorial day a the Cross Lake COE campground in Minnesota. This is a "new to us" place, the reviews look good. Very anxious to get camping! Today was an inside day around the house high of -1 below.

If (!) the glaciers have receded in time our first outing will be to Alum Creek State Park in April just for a dewinterizing/shakedown weekend. I can't wait!

it is fun in the park that time of year. the bison are calving, snow is melting and park has just opened up. weather is nice and cool yet so is very enjoyable and no crowds yet either.

That sounds fun!max2bob wrote:we usually get out in the winter when the roads are not snow covered . I keep the camper shoveled out and the truck is always backed up to it and always have firewood and lawn chair in the truck. throw in a can of chili and some beer and good to go for a night. this winter though it has been extremely windy at times so have not ventured out yet. we usually go to the koa on mothers day but this year we are going to a forest service campground right by the park on the Madison river. usually low 20s at night but we just bring a lot of firewood and have the camper nice and cozy before we go in for the night.
