Sweet. Mine just came in the mail.

As a nice surprise, my wife also bought me the GoPower 1500 high surge pure sine inverter and remote control panel which I received yesterday.

Now I just need the ATS, and I am ready for install.

I want everything but the AC and microwave.

I am looking at a 2500 watt high surge.

Still trying to understand inverters

Post by jcarlilesiu » January 30th, 2016, 3:46 pm

I want to go off the grid and do some boondock camping.

First order of business, upgrade batteries. Check! 2 Golf Cart batteries with 208 amp hours.

Now, I need to figure out how to utilize the 110V system on battery power. I am about to pull the trigger on an inverter charger. In the front of my 16RB I have identified a nice little cubby hole connected to the outside storage to mount the inverter. Its about 3 feet from the batteries, which is good to keep the gauge of the cable connection down for ease of installation.

My issue is, my existing panel and converter are in the rear. Once I draw the 110V from the inverter, I need to know what gauge of wire I need to get it back to the panel where it will connect to the Automatic Switch Over.

To add insult to injury, I want a remote control display for the inverter to control without trying to access the actual inverter in the storage bay. I will have to figure out how to route that cable back to the back too where all of the other controls are.

Any advise is appreciated.
