For me, personally, I worry about algae growth as well as bacterial growth over extended periods. In the heat, things grow faster. I don't leave any water for long periods, stagnant.

I'm one of those people that sanitizes after each outing. I'ts just too easy to not do it. So, any water left in my trailer has an elevated chlorine content. 2 cups of bleach with 5 gallons of water in the holding tank, drive home, run the water through the plumbing and drain the gray water and the water heater. Takes me about an hour, total.

Is it necessary to empty the water heater after every trip? Or can you leave the water in the heater til the next trip? We live in Southern AZ, so very little concern about freezing.
