Generator use while on the road.
Re: Generator use while on the road.
One thing to consider is how noisy it can be inside a trailer going down a rough interstate - dishes, pots, pans, microwave carousel, stove top all rattling up a storm. I won't say how I know... anyway, some pets would be terrified.

For those reading along,
We hooked the Honda 3000 generator to the trailer today while working on some mods, cleaning and organizing. The generator purred along nicely running the air conditioning and all the lights with no problems. We suspect it will work on the road equally as well.

I can ride around with this in the truck cab with one of these for a spell when we test ride with the generator running

Drivers passing out while pulling would NOT be an ideal situation.pawpaw wrote:I no expert, but I don't think there's any problem running the generator while the trailer is connected to the TV. The only thing I can think of is that you need to be sure the exhaust gases from the generator don't get inside the truck or trailer - THAT could cause a HUGE problem.

From what I've read riding in the back isn't a good idea for people.
The dogs spend the day sleeping in bed and don't seem to mind.

Generator use while on the road.
It gets quite hot in the summer round these parts. Riding in the truck with our 2 little fur balls gets annoying after the first half hour.
We are thinking about using our Honda EU3000is while rolling down the road to provide air conditioning to the dogs. They do well in the trailer as long as its a reasonable temperature.
The generator will set in the back of the pickup, plugged into the TT. We can add a front facing electrical port to the front of the TT, no problem.As long as the generator doesn't shut itself off from the oil sloshing around due to my horrendous driving skills, my questions are;
1- Will the trailer have electrical problems if we are hooked up to the TV and the generator at the same time?
2- SHould we shut the converter down while in transportation mode? This will cut off the 12v system from the 120v system will it not?
3- Will TV have electrical problems ? ( I doubt this as we have had the TV plugged into the TT while the TT is plugged into shore power many times)
