Wierd Question about "ball size"

I would think that your trailer is of a size that would probably have a 2 5/16" ball also. Never the less, ball size should have no affect on getting the trailer off the ball. I think the hitch on their trailer was probably out of adjustment, or nobody taught them how to relieve the pressure between the ball and hitch when removing the trailer.
I just checked the specs on your trailer and the tongue weight is listed at 500 lbs. Most all vehicle hitches require a weight distribution hitch when tongue weight exceeds 500 lbs. I would guess yours is in the range of 700 lbs, especially with the generator. Good decision on your part to add the hitch.

My wife and I have been RVing for most of our married life (25 years). We purchased a new 2015 AR One Maxx 26BH about 3 months ago. After seeing it, my in-laws (who have been RVing MUCH longer), bought a similar StarCraft (I think a 23' Autumn Ridge). We have a 2005 Nissan Frontier, that previously we towed a similar weight, but shorter trailer with, with zero issues. My In-Laws, upon the dealer's advice, bought a distribution kit/sway controller. Apparently the ball on the controller was 2 5/16", and every time they had to remove the trailer from the ball, it got stuck, and they had to have someone help them get it unstuck. It was so bad that they traded the trailer in only after having it for a month, and bought another "A" class (which they are used to). Now onto my issue. We have been having sway issues with our new trailer, and since we decided to have a generator installed onto the tongue, we have a bit more tongue weight than our truck allows. I added some support springs, which increased the tongue weight capacity to 3,500lbs, but, it still sags. My in-laws gave us their weight distribution kit, since they no longer needed it, and it is pretty much new. My question is, do you think the reason they had such an issue with the ball not releasing is because it was a 2 5/16" ball? I have never had this issue, yet, but I believe we just use a 2" ball...any thoughts? I plan on installing the kit (a Husky 32218 BTW) which is an excellent kit and perfect for our setup, but came with the larger ball already pre-installed and I wonder if we should replace it with a smaller (2") ball, or maybe they just had some weird issue?? They are retired, and therefore I have come to this forum for assistance...Thanks for reading this much and any help you may offer...
