I made darkening curtains to fit width of windows plus a little extra width. Hung them from pressure rods by rings with clips attached. Rods fit inside the box trim over the shades. Get thinnest rods you can as there is not much depth to the trim. I purchased darkening panels and cut to fit length. One panel is about right width to cover BR windows. You will need 2 widths for LR windows that are wider. No need to hem as lining prevents fraying, unless you want a more finished look. These also provide insulation for heat and cold thru the windows.
