Electric. I did try running it on propane several times the first month when troubleshooting, and it does cool a little better on propane. The frig doesn't use a lot of propane. Based on btu's, a full 30 lb tank might run my frig abt 2 months.
For what it's worth, that fan draws 1/2 amp non-stop. So, that might be a concern if boondocking.

Norcold N811 Refrigerator
The first months we were snow-birding the frig almost drove me nuts. It would never stay cold enough in the frig or freezer section. I tried all kinds of things. This was one of those deals where almost anything I tried seemed to help for a short time.
The first mistake I made was using an air type thermometer. You have to put a thermometer in a glass of water to get an accurate temp. The 2nd thing to know is this model shuts down for a few hours every 48 hours to defrost the fins.
Long story short, the fix was to install a 4" fan blowing on the fins as shown in the picture. It's attached to the shelf with plastic tys. The wiring is temporary and messy until we get home and I can shut the frig down. I ran a 12V wire through the overflow tube and connected it to the frig control board in the outside access. Don't waste money on puny battery power fans. They just don't move enough air.
This setup has worked flawlessly for 3 months. Our routine is to set the control on 3 during the day and 2 at night. Before the fan, settings of 4 and 5 were not cold enough. It moves enough air we also don't worry anymore about packing things too close and blocking air flow.
