That might work, I don't have a storage area on the bottom, but it would be behind a recliner. I just hate to do something like that to a new trailer. Got a reply from StarCraft on the question about attaching to the bumper, they completely avoided the question, just said that adding a ladder would likely fail.

The heavier of us two weighs 165 pounds. You can guess which one of us that is.

Why not add blocking inside the trailer in the storage compartment and upper cabinet along the back wall? Then screw / bolt into that? Sammiching the trailer wall between the ladder bracket and the blocking.

My 26RLS is a 2016, they sent me a diagram which doe's not show any backing for that area to attach to. I weigh 225# on most days, I was thinking of attaching the bottom of the ladder to the rear bumper, the only thing I was concerned about was the flex difference between the bumper and the rear wall. I don't realy see it being that much. Starcraft states in their literature that the roof is made to be able to walk on, they just don't make it easy to get there from here.

Our ladder holds my weight just fine.
Is it a safe question to ask how much you weigh?

Ladder on 26 RLS Launch

Post by hlp » October 21st, 2015, 6:48 pm

I wanted to add an roof access ladder to our 26RLS, sent an request for advice on the installation and got a quick response from the Starcraft people telling me that the rear wall does not have the needed support built into it to safely attach a ladder, due to it being a composite wall with no studs. I am considering attaching the bottom of the ladder to the bumper, has anyone tried this or have any opinions on why it would or would not work.
