Stop the water pump cycling mod!

Post by tslarson » May 4th, 2015, 3:00 am

On our old Jayco, I hated how the water pump cycled whenever you flushed the toilet or turned on a water faucet. I installed a small expansion tank to reduce the cycling, but the pump still cycled a lot. On our new Starcraft I installed a 2 gallon expansion tank, I can now flush the toilet several times and run a faucet about 12 seconds before the pump turns on. It is great to no longer have "pulsating" water from the faucets. I purchased it from Home Depot. I then glued a piece of 3/4" plywood to the inside of a dinette seat, used pipe strap to attach the tank, screwed the tank to the floor using a plumbing fitting with a flat flange on it, and plumbed it into the water system close to the water pump.
