There are, actually, multiple ways that could happen. Power switch that is too easy, Infra Red signal to the remote control input (the sun puts out Infra Red, too, and it can reflect). Humidity effect on electronic circuit, stuck switch, expansion and/or contraction due to heat/cold, Glitch or pulse on the dc power circuit.
I would try, first, to disconnect the power from the radio for several minutes to reset all of the power circuitry. Test. Remove the faceplate, when not in use. Test. Contact the radio manufacturer, directly and see if this is a known problem. If all else fails, I would replace the radio. I don't know what yours is, but, the radio in mine isn't any brand that I recognize as a quality product in the automotive systems market.
