having to worry about weight all the time and either leaving the bikes or kayaks etc at home got very tiring after awhile. I traded my 1/2 ton truck for a year older heavy 3/4 ton with diesel and 100,000 more miles on it. with the money saved I bought a nice Subaru outback and that is my daily driver etc. the truck just sits until I need it to haul something. put about 3000-5000 miles a year on it now. and yes, now I can bring firewood and dutch ovens and games, bikes kayaks you name it. its not for everyone having 2 vehicles but works for me very well, maybe something to think about.

we have been dutch oven cooking for quite a few years now. we got started with the dutch oven after we watched the movie lonesome dove where in the opening scenes gus is cooking biscuits in his dutch oven. usually we use the biscuits for biscuits and gravy in the morning. we have made peach cobbler, huckleberry cobbler and birthday cakes , lasagna, chili and a whole pot roast meal and also enchiladas. one of my favorites is nachos in the dutch oven. we will precook the meat at home and chop up the other ingredients at home also and them when we arrive at the campsite we just throw it all in the dutch oven and have a real quick simple meal. we have the charcoal starter for the briquettes and after they are ready just pre-heat the oven and throw the meal in it. our starcraft ar-one does not have an oven so having the dutch oven is a handy thing to have around . if anyone has a favorite they like to cook in their dutch oven let us know.
