thank you for everyones input. we finally ultimately purchased the coleman 13x13 canopy with the vent in the top. covers are whole picnic table and then some. over memorial day it withstood some decent rain without buckling and collapsing. we got it from amazon with damaged packaging so the price was more than reasonable. we really did like the gander mountain but that was out of our price range. so our next test is wind and hoping it fairs well with that. a lot of good suggestions and thanks to all for the help. the 13x13 size really helped in the rain while cooking and sitting under it by the way.

These canopies are way cool, you are right, going to have to have one. Several versions to choose from, not as heavy as one would think, and competitively priced.

I second the EZ-Ups we use them at the dirt bike track to work on the bikes out of the sun. Costco sells some as well with solid sides which would be nice on windy days. I have a standard scree tent for over the table, but we seem to use it less now that the trailer has a 17 foot awning.

But the screen tent os more work to setup than the new 10x10 EZ ups.

I bought a real EZ Up on ebay several years ago. It's been used and abused, but it works well and sets up easily. I use it as the kitchen, and the walls really help keep things clean. I use 2 gallon buckets filled with concrete to hold it down in high winds.

we bought one at Walmart two falls ago, it was such a good deal we went and grabbed another. It was on clearance for 40 bucks, so, if one ever decides to bite the bullet, we have a backup. We thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread ..... up and down in two minutes. The less you have to do to set up, and to set down, the better

max2bob wrote:thanks, it is the canopy you would set up over the picnic table. we do all our cooking outside so the canopy is nice to have over the picnic table while preparing and cooking food and also for the rain and hail and snow for protection.
Oh, gotcha.

We picked on up at Big Lots actually.

Its really cheap, both in price and quality, but for how few times we use it, it seems to be fine.

It was like 90 bucks and is 5 by 8.

thank you, that is exactly what I am looking for. we camp a lot and need something to withstand that kind of use and weather. I had never ran across gander mountain before , they look like they have some good stuff.
