Our countertop is starting to bulge up at the seam behind the stovetop. We have plans to eventually replace the entire countertop with 2 giant pieces of tile. One of our distributors carries tiles that are 24 inches by 60 inches. We can waterproof the seam. This will also allow us to install a better sink which we plan on undermounting to get rid of that water catching lip.

I've been in construction most of my life. Particle board with an overlay, usually formica or plastic, is pretty common countertop material. Next time you are at Home depot, look at the prefab countertops with sink cutouts ;) I'm not exactly sure why or if there would be contact paper for countertops .... I know I don't have contact paper on my trailer's countertops.

1.5 years in Dallas TX 2nd summer and no countertop or table problems so far. I think you all must have some sort of isolated issue with the counter manufacturing. The appear to be a thin plastic overlay.

Hi, Am new to this forum. Came looking for info about this very issue. I recently looked at a new Starcraft Launch 24RLS (either 2016 or 2017) at dealership. Counter tops appeared to be particle board overlaid with a thin contact paper. Was wrinkled & peeling back in several large segments of counter top (next to stove and sink). Plus another location (dinette table?) Sales rep blamed it on "the heat" :?: (I live and will be camping in same hot climate so not comforting). Said the dealership is ordering new counter tops for it. Husb & I were taken aback by how cheap and vulnerable to water damage these counters are. Particle board around a sink spells big trouble. Of course, could always replace with formica or heavy granite but that's not the point. Makes me wonder what other cost cutting compromises Starcraft uses in it's manufacturing.

Had to disconnect exterior cable/ satellite wire from amplifier to get signal from our dish
That one is in the owners manual I believe. The connections on the rear of the plate were sooooo loose. That fixed most of our problems.

Our 2015 (had it since 2014) shows no signs of formica damage and we have well over 18,000 miles on ours.

I have same problem in my 24RLS. I'd be interested to know if Starcraft replaces your countertops. My unit is just 5 months old, problems started after first use! Does your AM radio work? Starcraft told me they don't hook up the AM radio because "nobody listens to AM". FM is hooked up thru rooftop tv antenna and works great. Had to disconnect exterior cable/ satellite wire from amplifier to get signal from our dish. Maybe an engineer needs to look at their wiring to the tv - this has been a problem in units for years. Our Laredo got it right, but that's a different class of trailer.

Since it is still under warranty, it would probably be best to have it replaced. You might just be experiencing a bad assembly issue at the factory. Mine is only about 9 months old, but no signs of issues with the table or counter tops.

You can always replace with a better product after the warranty runs out. Installing formica is fairly easy.

Table/Counter top bubbles and coming off

Post by jmetzke1 » June 1st, 2016, 1:07 pm

We purchased a 2015 26RLS this past winter. The table top, counter and end table between the chairs is coming off. It looks like it is just cheap paper material glued on. In addition, the table top is warping. Has anyone else seen this issue? What can be done? I don't want them to just slap another paper top on it and have to replace later after the warranty is up.
